A' Design Awards Gala!

Hi!

A few weeks ago I went to Milan to pick up the silver and bronze awards in the categories of Electronic Devices and Furniture design respectively in the A' Design Awards ceremony. After the trip, I wanted to wait until I had all the photos and make a recompilation of the best moments during the whole wonderful experience.

I have to say that the Gala Night was very well prepared and it gave us the opportunity to know other great professionals of every sector, among them the studio Menut that came to pick their well deserved Gold award for their product "Thea" which you can find here: http://www.menut.es/proyecto/diseno-de-mobiliario/thea/ As well as an old co-worker that came to represent the design studio "QMAD" which products can be found here: www.quematenaldisenador.es

For all those who are thinking to apply for this awards I have to say it is a really recommendable event!

I would like to thank the whole team behind the A' Design Awards as well as family and friends who where present and also those who couldn't come.

Thanks. :)

A' Design Awards

¡Hola!

Hi!

It has been a long time since the last post I wrote here, but the truth is that I didn't have much time...

Since January and until today I have been at the Spaced Out architecture studio in London, working on some projects (the ones I hope I can upload soon) and looking for a new apartment in my free time.

However, now that I have a bit of time I would like to upload the two designs I presented in September to the A' Design Awards 2013 and that have been awarded with Silver and Bronze in the categories of Electronic Devices and Furniture designs respectively. I will upload some images of the Gala Night on April but until then... I leave you with the projects!

The first one was designed with the studio Que Maten al Diseñador, in Valencia. Its a Parallel Interactive Projector or PIP which not only synchronizes through a simple app with the screen of your Smartphone and projects it to the wall, but also allows you to interact with it thanks to an  Infrared Diode situated underneath the projector. This way we not only reduce the Smartphone's battery consume, but also the dependence we have today in our cell phones.

The second one, the Waterfall chair, is an eco-friendly design made by bending the plywood sheets left that after being cut they are just stacked and thrown away without reusing them.
Each sheet has always a different length, color or texture depending on the wood used, which gives the design an additional value when produced as each chair is unique. Nevertheless, if preferred you can also upholster it within a wide chromatic range of natural clothes.

Florence, Green Pill & Slide

Today I would like to post three furniture designs I developed during the last year. Two of them were presented for the Sustainable Singapore Furniture contest in 2011: "Florence" & "Green Pill"

They were both designed following the idea of combining "green life" and furniture.

"Florence" is an outdoor table, where plants can grow from the top and hang at both sides. The top of the table is recovered with a special varnish to prevent it from weather damages or while watering the plants, even if it is just with the water left after a meal.

The "Green Pill" design was however a more conceptual design. Aware of the lack of green zones we have in our cities, we decided to introduce in a small way that vegetation inside our houses without taking too much space, obtaining this way the sweet essence of nature as well as a natural air filter!
The sofa had also a couple of fluorescent lights that not only helped the plants inside to grow but also offered an ambient light to the room at night.

And, at last but not least, we would like to introduce you the "Slide" armchair, presented for the NUDE exhibition 2011 and designed while working in the studio "Que Maten al Diseñador". The armchair was tough for people who just moved into a small apartment and they would like to have some extra space when they are alone, but also have an optional seat when they have some company. This is how we came to the next idea: Just by pulling on both sides of the armchair you can turn it into a sofa for two! The inner part of the arms fold down and the back part of the sofa folds over so the seat and the back comfortably level for both users.

"Cassandra" lamps

The "Cassandra" lamps where designed while working with the studio Que Maten al Diseñador for the furniture company Ascension Latorre in Spain. Right now you can see them at the Saloni WORLDWIDE MOSCOW 2012 - CROCUS EXPO. HALL 8; STAND-D36/E39.

HALL 8; STAND-D36/E39.
